Kagome knew that travel wasn’t always about destination. She also knew when wandering wasn’t actually aimless. “Inuyasha?” she called. “Are you looking for something?”
“Shelter.” He jerked a thumb toward the sky. Or more accurately, the thin sliver of moon showing pale against the blue.
She quietly asked, “Tomorrow night?”
“Hnn.” Sesshoumaru lightly asked, “Will you attempt to keep watch?”
“I usually make it until sunrise.”
His hum was skeptical, and she turned to search his face.
He was waiting. Or perhaps lying in wait.
Her nose skimmed his cheek.
His head tipped just so.
And their lips touched.
