Amaranthine Interludes, #2

New Years Eve/Day Teaser! I’ve been dropping hints here and there (mostly Patreon & Twitter), but now I have a finished cover, so I can sneak you something more. After a bit of shuffling, the second Amaranthine Interludes story has been locked in. Suuzu’s story will publish in 2023, and it’ll be set between Bk5 and Bk6. More soon! ::twinkle::

Happy New Year!

Release Day Delivery

Maybe. Fumiko and the Finicky Nestmate will release this coming Friday, October 22 (::confetti toss::). While I can’t guarantee a release day delivery like certain vendors, I’m going to get as close as possible. The first shipment will go out today, bound for international recipients. And another teetering stack will go out on Monday. Media mail supposedly takes up to ten days, but most of my recipients see a package in seven. Unless they live in nearby states, in which case, books could show up early. Lucky you! ::twinkle::

  • If you want to get in on the initial shipment, place your order ASAP! I have a stack of shipping labels ready! Signed Books details >>
  • If you’re holding off for one reason or another, no worries. I stocked up. You’ll be fine.
  • If you pre-order the ebook, it’ll probably show up on your reading device the evening before release day. (Thanks, time zones!) Those who get a signed book + an ebook are able to review Bk5 as a verified customer, which is apparently a good thing.
  • Speaking of reviews, any author, nay, EVERY author depends on your honest opinions & star ratings. They please the algorithms, which can mean site recommendations and netting future “daily deals” sale dates.
  • Incidentally, pre-orders are a contributing force toward boosting a new book’s First Week Sales, which can put them on best seller lists. That’s an eventual goal of mine, but I’m not there yet. Maybe someday!
  • While the digital/print book release date is October 22, the audio book will be coming out next month from Tantor Audio. Pre-orders should be showing up soon for Travis Baldree’s narration. And the release date will be November 9, 2021.
  • As per usual, I reveal the title of the next book (Bk6) at the end of the ebook & and a fuller title + summary at the end of the print edition. Those who order an author-signed copy also receive swag that doubles as a full-color cover reveal. ::eyebrow waggle::

Aaah, we’re so close. I hope you’re as excited as I am for what’s to come. And thank you for supporting my stories wherever they can be found.

Coming Soon

Fumiko and the Finicky Nestmate. Have you pre-ordered your ebook? Are you going to nab a signed copy? I’ve been addressing & inscribing all week, and I’m planning to ship books on Monday so they’ll reach readers close to (if not before) release day on Friday, October 22. If you want to get into that first big batch, now’s a great time to send in your order.

Chapter 2 Teaser. Okay, not much happening here except scenery, but that’s okay because 1) it’s spoiler-free and 2) it establishes the fact that Akira is a POV chapter in Fumiko. ::twinkle::

Pre-Order a Song

Bathed in Moonlight (Songs of the Amaranthine, #7) is now available for pre-order on Amazon (for Kindle). This short story will release as a digital only title (for now). Since this is the seventh title in the Songs of the Amaranthine collection, we’re only one away from having enough to create a second print anthology. And yes, closer to release, the story should show up in other venues.

Some courtships follow all the rules. Some courtships bend them.

As the Seven Score Moons cycle through their phases, the appointed time for the Queen’s Festival draws near. Wolves from all over will gather at a site that the packs count as sacred, to sing for the Moon and her maidens. Rinloo is part of an allotment of dexes sent to guard the Circle, which has long been anchored by an Amaranthine tree. There he encounters a girl-child spirited to safety by imps and an unhappy maid from the Luminous Court.

Pre-Order Fumiko

Releasing October 22, 2021. The digital edition of the fifth book in the Amaranthine Saga is now available for pre-order on Amazon/Kindle. It’ll show up in all the other places in due course. And it’ll also be available in print & audio editions eventually. But this is where it always starts. ::twinkle::

She could make a mess of everything. Especially him.
The Junzi—also known as the Four Gentlemen—are a set of ancient weapons fashioned from remnants. Dragons refer to them as the Four Storms, and Hisoka Twineshaft believes they will make a difference in the hunt for the rogue. But someone else is interested in gathering up these crystal masterpieces. The so-called Gentleman Bandit is responsible for two thefts already, and Hisoka is concerned for the Bamboo Stave. So he deploys an elite taskforce to guard the treasure. And to catch a thief.

Juuyu Farroost and his teammates regroup at a safehouse tucked under the boughs of one of the oldest—and most heavily fortified—orphan trees in the Americas. Fumiko and her tree twin have enough rooms for all of them. If they can shift enough of the woman’s clutter to set up their equipment. Juuyu’s expertise is essential to the success of their mission, but he can barely focus thanks to Fumiko, her messes, and Akira, who apparently owes Boon a favor.

Hemmed in Silver

Songs of the Amaranthine. The fifth story in the collection will be releasing on November 4, 2020. It’s showing up for pre-order on Amazon (so far). As usual, it’ll be available from other vendors closer to release day.

Fairies in the garden. Frost on the pumpkins. Farmhands at the dance. Wyn Outler doesn’t talk about where he came from (or how long ago). All part of the vows he took when he and his best friend turned their backs on the In-between. Decades later, when a letter arrives from an orphan boy who thinks he’s found his uncle, Wyn faces the monumental task of welcoming two children into a household rife with secrets.

Alfie is quite sure Merritt House is magical. Uncle Wyn’s quirky rules only add to the farm’s mystique. He’d do anything to stay. Even if it means pretending not to notice that the chickens are enormous, the cows are a little too clever, and the cook has a tail. However, his baby sister Hazel, who is forever bending the rules, grows up with some peculiarly romantic notions. First love will make things awkward for everyone, especially the three farmhands who live in Cozy Cottage.

Fandom Anniversary

Fourteen Years. This year, I have good reasons to celebrate September 22. Here, I can even provide a list:

  • It’s the Autumn Equinox, and I adore Fall. Historically, it’s been one of my most creative seasons. (Many of my fanfics began, ended, or were updated on this milestone day throughout the years.)
  • It’s release day for Mikoto and the Reaver Village (Amaranthine Saga, #4), which you can pre-order (digital edition) on Amazon and/or pre-order your signed copy from me.
  • If all goes according to plan, I’ll be posting an IY x Amaranthine Saga crossover. That’s right folks. Argent meets Sesshoumaru. ::twinkle::
  • A larger project has been underway all summer. As we near my “fanniversary,” I’ll be posting quotes from some of my fics. Like this one:

More to come!

Pre-Order Bk5

Mikoto and the Reaver Village (Amaranthine Saga, #4) is now available for pre-order on Amazon. At this point, it’s only the e-book. Print editions will begin showing up closer to release day. The same goes for other storefronts. Patience! The whole project is coming along nicely. And you now have a firm release date!

Amaranthine Saga 04, Mikoto and the Reaver Village

This summer is his last chance to win his first love.
Wardenclave has always been a place of secrets and sway. For most of the year, the remote mountain village is closed off from the rest of the world, but each spring, they issue invitations to the most promising young reavers all over the world. Summer skill camps provide opportunities for the elite to train with the best. And by longstanding tradition, for teens of the In-between to evaluate the compatibility of their peers. Glint Starmark’s reputation as a matchmaker has been holding true for millennia.

At seventeen, Mikoto Reaver is the youngest headman in Wardenclave’s history. He’s had very little time to adjust to his new role before their close-knit community opens its doors to children of pedigree, the specialists who will mentor them, an allotment of battlers, and a celebrity or two. Glint means well, but Mikoto won’t commit until he can speak to the only girl he’s ever loved. There’s just something about her.

Governed by Whimsy

Available for Pre-Order. I’m finally ready to set the release date for the fourth story in the Songs of the Amaranthine collection. This is the solo digital edition. The print anthology will be coming along later, probably in May. An audio edition of the 4-story collection is already contracted, so you can also look forward to Travis Baldree’s narration.

His whims drove off her predecessors.
Her whimsy drives him to distraction.

Songs of the Amaranthine 04, Governed by Whimsy

To Ambrose P. Merriman, a stage actor who’s gained acclaim on three continents, reaver escorts are more trouble than they’re worth. Easy-come, easy-go, he hardly bothers to learn their names anymore. But the director and producer of their theater troupe, who are already dancing on the fringes of acceptability, won’t risk losing their independence by neglecting this duty to the In-between.

Reaver Greta Demerara comes with suspiciously excellent references, but by the time the Evernhold brothers realize she’s carrying considerably more baggage than anyone bothered to mention, the train’s already left the station. What’s more, it’s quickly apparent that Greta’s no easier to deal with than their star. It’s either a game of cat and canary or a courtship. And Ambrose would give almost anything for a look at the script.

Songs of the Amaranthine, #3

Songs of the Amaranthine is a collection of short stories set in Forthright’s Amaranthine universe. Before the Emergence, the clans were nothing more than whispers and mysteries and legends and lore. But every so often—in out-of-the-way places or shockingly close to home—an unsuspecting person stumbled into a fateful encounter with someone who was decidedly other. An eclectic collection, spanning continents and centuries. Tales of adventure, discovery, friendship, rescue, belonging, and love. Each short story stands alone and can be read in any order.

He had one job. Becoming a family pet wasn’t it.

Because details…

Sealed with a Sock. I’ve been filling out address labels all afternoon, and I thought you might enjoy a peek. Because I’m mixing things up. (Well, let’s hope I haven’t mixed up your mystical digits of finding.) What I mean is … we updated the address labels in honor of Tamiko and the Two Janitors. Because labels can be swag, too. ::twinkle::

If you want a signed copy, the first batch of books will ship first thing Friday. Details on placing that order are on this page – SIGNED BOOKS >>

All the Things, All the Places

All Systems Go. Details are my delight (even when they stage an ambush). I’m slouching in to report that ALL the things have been variously uploaded to, implemented at, and ordered from ALL the places. Tamiko is at the printer. The rubber stamp for this book’s personal touch is ordered. New address labels are on the way, as is assorted swag. Oh, and I had to buy BIGGER blue mailers for readers who are already asking me to ship signed books in multiples greater than two. Travis has the manuscript and a run-down of the cast’s personality profiles so he can begin narration. (He sent me audio samples last night, and I may have been grinning foolishly throughout my listen.)

And because I know you want to ask…

  • Print editions should begin showing up for pre-order in virtual bookstores this week. Nope, I don’t know exactly when. Processing varies.
  • Ebooks should begin showing up for pre-order in virtual bookstores (other than Amazon, where it’s been available for ages) within the next few days. Again, I don’t have any way of knowing when. This stuff’s mostly automated.
  • Yes, I’ll be picking up my fanfics again. Mood Stripes and Savvy will be back this week.
  • If you’ve already placed your order with me for a signed copy of Tamiko and the Two Janitors, I’ll be getting back to you in the next day or two to answer questions and confirm your orders.
  • According to tradition, I’ve revealed the title and summary of Bk4 at the end of the print edition. Will you peek ahead or won’t you? (I’m strictly a no-peeking reader m’self.)
  • And because I really never stop … I’m participating in Camp NaNoWriMo this month, working up the next Songs of the Amaranthine short story, which I’d like to release later this fall.
