Merci.” Jacques arched his brows. “Are you going to tuck us in together?”

Sonnet waved at the bed he’d prepared. “I’ll keep you warm.”

“Both of us?”

He collected Vanya but stayed close. “Are we not denmates?”

“Some of Stately House’s finest,” Jacques agreed, loosening the tie on his dressing gown. “I don’t usually retire this early, but… we should talk.”

“We should.” Sonnet beamed. “Vanya likes the sound of voices. He’ll go deep knowing we’re near.”

Which was both beside the point and entirely Sonnet. He fussed until Jacques was on his side, sheltering Vanya, then slid in behind.
