Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s practically family.

The Reserved Type
“Hey, Suuzu. Can you work around my tail?”
“Certainly.” Suuzu took the length of blue cloth. “Will my touch offend?”
“Nah, we’re good,” Gingko said in reasonable tones. “You’re practically family.”
Jacques was almost sure this declaration flustered the teen. It was hard to tell, though. Suuzu was the reserved type. So earnest, it was kind of cute.
While Ginkgo shimmied out of his jeans and shorts, Jacques thought it prudent to avert his eyes. So he was the first to notice Deece on the stairs, escorting the four “items” Jacques had requested from Argent—Nonny, Gilen, Mori, and Raife.

How marvelous of him to include those who felt left out! Jacques is developing (or maybe just feeling more able to display) new sensitivities to others’ feelings, rather than being so self-absorbed as he seemed when we first met him in Tsumiko’s story. Only I can’t quite place Mori. Must go back and re-read! 😉
