Release Day!

Governed by Whimsy is OUT. This is the solo digital edition. The print anthology will be coming along later, probably in May. An audio edition of the 4-story collection is already contracted, so you can also look forward to Travis Baldree’s narration.

His whims drove off her predecessors.
Her whimsy drives him to distraction.

Songs of the Amaranthine 04, Governed by Whimsy

To Ambrose P. Merriman, a stage actor who’s gained acclaim on three continents, reaver escorts are more trouble than they’re worth. Easy-come, easy-go, he hardly bothers to learn their names anymore. But the director and producer of their theater troupe, who are already dancing on the fringes of acceptability, won’t risk losing their independence by neglecting this duty to the In-between.

Reaver Greta Demerara comes with suspiciously excellent references, but by the time the Evernhold brothers realize she’s carrying considerably more baggage than anyone bothered to mention, the train’s already left the station. What’s more, it’s quickly apparent that Greta’s no easier to deal with than their star. It’s either a game of cat and canary or a courtship. And Ambrose would give almost anything for a look at the script.

P.S. I’m not seeing it in storefronts other than Amazon just yet, but it should be showing up soon. (Not much I can do to hurry things along. Thank you for your patience.)

  1. Hi Forthy,

I was delighted to receive Governed by Whimsy today and started reading immediately. I was swept away, into the beautiful and rich world, following the story, meeting such wonderful and fun and interesting characters. So engrossed was I, that the story ended before I was ready! Surely there was more to come?! Alas, it is but a glimpse of the Amaranthine world, not an ongoing saga. I learnt more about feline clans, that “crossers” have been around a very long time and that I want to know more about the moth clans.

Thank you for another wonderful novella. I will be reading and savouring the four novellas and your novels until your next work is released.

    Stay safe. Stay sane.

    • What lovely compliments! Thank you. I’m always glad to know when my stories and a reader find a good fit. ::twinkle::

AND! To quote Tsumiko and the Enslaved Fox (Amaranthine Saga, #1)…

Argent snorted. “Crossbreeds have been happening for millennia. Why do you think the Amaranthine first took human form?”

Michael’s eyes widened. “Oh, that’s … almost romantic. But there are no records of children with a mixed heritage.”

“If the reavers want to fill in the gaps in their understanding, they should speak to the wolves. Cats and dragons put down unfit young, but pack is everything to wolves.”

  2. Soooooo is this a squee post??? Or should I avoid spoilers/specific thoughts?? Don’t want to spoil anything for someone who hasn’t finished!

  3. Still not seeing it in online bookshops. Just on Amazon, but sadly that is not an option for me.
I’m only finding the ”Governed by Whimsy: The Antology” tag.
Do you have any other options beside Amazon to buy it?
    Really can’t wait to read!!
