Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially for the one with a mission.

Come into my Parlor
Downstairs was warmed by candlelight. Various parlors overflowed with strangers with tails. And not the sort Jacques flaunted.
“What ho?” he objected. The competition would be fierce.
“Adoona-soh’s pack is encamped in the woods.” Mark lowered him to a settee, radiating concern. “What’s upset you?”
Jacques pouted. “They’ll drink all the wine.”
“Shall I secure your next taste?” he offered, droll in his generosity.
Holding his gaze, Jacques solemnly urged, “Make me proud.”
Only after his new friend strayed from view did Jacques realize that he wasn’t alone on the settee. Star wine was both lovely stuff… and lovely bait.
