LMM 04: Wizard

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.)  Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who didn’t get the memo.

Quick aside…

My inbox is teeming with Kimiko pre-orders, but I’m in the middle of one of those big, final, this-time-for-keeps editing passes on the typeset pages. (Pretty, pretty!) Focus mode equals an unplugged forthy. If you’re waiting on a response that can’t be answered by the Signed Books page, I’ll be with you shortly. Thank you for your patience.

… if I could, those of you on hold would now be treated to music from the Mushishi sound track. ::twinkle::

Teaser

New to You? Oh, let’s have us another little teaser. I’ve mentioned new fanfics in the works, and some of them are actually on my publishing schedule. (I’ve justified this by calling them ‘grassroots marketing’ … but we all know I’m just goofing around.) Most of you know me from the InuYasha fandom, but in December, I’m due to unveil a story from outside my usual stomping grounds. And it occurred to me … you might not be familiar with my subject matter!  So if you want to get the most enjoyment out of an upcoming adventure, you have some homework. Watch a movie. Marathon an anime. Be ready!

Because I’ll be writing for … Continue reading

(Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.)  Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who isn’t human.

Lord Mettlebright’s Man

I’m using the #Inktober2018 prompts to kick off a new story in the Amaranthine universe.

Amaranthine Serial, Lord Mettlebright's Man by FORTHRIGHT

Summary: Jacques Smythe brazens his way into Stately House and shows no sign of departing. Like it or not, Lord Mettlebright has himself a butler.

EDIT: June 30, 2022 – As a finale for Pride Month’s daily updates, I revealed Jacqeus’ new cover, which will be used for the print/digital editions once the serial is complete. There will also be an audio edition, narrated by Travis Baldree. Thank you for supporting this story! :: hugs ::

After a heavenly visitation, one young wolf turns his back on his pack and on the moon in order to tread a lonesome path. A blaze of stars. A brand of copper. A burden of trust. First of Dogs, he takes a new name, makes peace with group of weary humans, and helps to found the In-between. This is a tale of the Kindred. This is the lore of the Starmark clan. Continue reading

#Inktober2018 Update

I posted here that I was thinking about using this year’s Inktober prompts for some playful drabbling. With a character in mind, a setting all ready, and a prompt list for inspiration, it wasn’t hard to make things happen. So I’ll be posting a chapter a day in October. (That means we start Monday!) Here’s a refresher on the prompts:

I’m calling the results my first Amaranthine Saga fanfic (even though I’m the author). Everything is very spiffy and official-like. I have a title, a summary, and even a book cover. In classic forthright tradition, the story will have 100-word chapters … and will probably take a few years to tell.

Want to drabble/drawble along?

Disclaimer: I do hereby disclaim all rights and responsibilities for the characters in this audacious adventure… especially for the one taking it slow. A nod of recognition is bent towards Rumiko Takahashi for her creative prowess.

Inuyasha set a brisk pace, searching the skies from every hilltop. Continue reading

ART: Gingko

“No need to stand … or stand on formalities.” He strode forward and crouched beside her, offering a hand. “I’m Gingko.”

Tsumiko’s eyes widened, for her gardener had claws.

He sighed. “Nobody told you about me?”

“No.”

“Figures.”

Gingko pushed back his hat. He was younger than she expected—about her own age, perhaps a little older. While he had the famed beauty of the inhuman races, his pupils were round. Which only confused Tsumiko further, because it made Gingko seem more human.

Tsumiko and the Enslaved Fox (Amaranthine Saga, #1)

I don’t like spoilers, nor do I like to spoil surprises. That’s probably why I’ve been sitting on Gingko art for so long. His return to Stately House may be forecast early on, but Tsumiko certainly didn’t see him coming. With Book 2 releasing in less than a month, I’m bringing out FoxOfTwilight’s rendition of the estate’s gardener. Continue reading

Songs of the Amaranthine

Oh, let’s have a little teaser, shall we? We’ll do an official cover reveal for the first story in this collection on Monday, October 1. (If all goes according to plan, Amazon customers will also be able to pre-order.) The scheduled release date is December 4, 2018.

Songs of the Amaranthine is a collection of short stories set in FORTHRIGHT’s Amaranthine universe. Before the Emergence, the clans were nothing more than whispers and mysteries and legends and lore. But every so often—in out-of-the-way places or shockingly close to home—an unsuspecting person stumbled into a fateful encounter with someone who is decidedly other.

An eclectic collection, spanning continents and centuries. Tales of adventure, discovery, friendship, rescue, belonging, and love. Each short story stands alone and can be read in any order.
