Issues
To Jacques’ extreme dismay, Gingko foisted the baby on him. “I can’t. Take it back.”
“Little bro isn’t an it. He’s a crosser. Like me.” The half-fox stepped closer. “Nothing to be afraid of, Jacques.”
“But…!” He was shaking now.
Gingko’s hands came up under his. “Dad said you’re dragon-skittish, so we’re starting with a half-dose.”
That was only half the problem. “I’m terrible with kids.”
He grinned. “That’s not what Tsumiko says.”
Jacques grumbled, “You wouldn’t understand.”
“You’d be surprised.” The animation faded from Gingko’s face, leaving him looking exhausted. “My story’s not much different than this little guy’s.”
