Lord Mettlebright’s Man
Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially Tsumiko’s favorite uncle.
Chapter Eleven: Focal Point
“Back up a few steps,” Ginkgo ordered gruffly.
Jacques obeyed and all but fell into the depths of a leather chair, baby and all. It occurred to him that the half-fox looked enough like his father to be… interesting.
Gingko huffed. “Don’t go there.”
Jacques went there anyhow.
“You really are an idiot boy. Focus.”
“Focused.”
He smirked and shook his head. “Listen. The cruel beast who sired Kyrie wants him.”
Jacques peeked down into solemn ruby eyes.
“Nobody in Stately House would ever let that happen.”
“How lovely for him.”
Gingko’s expression softened. “And for the one holding him.”
