Personal Touches

Inky Fingers. With each book that’s released in the Amaranthine Saga, we’ve designed a rubber stamp that somehow suits the story. They’re one of those little personal touches that helps make the signed books you order from me extra special. Welp, with Governed by Whimsy: The Anthology about to release, it was finally the Songs’ turn. Naturally, I wanted a unique stamp for each of the four stories. They arrived in yesterday’s mail, and I’ve been testing colors.

Pre-ordered books should ship this weekend.

Await. Await. Await.

Shipped!

Shippy Ship Ship. I’m a shipper, ’tis true. To quote my fanfiction.net profile page, “I ship everyone … or no one. Take your pick!” Perhaps it’s more accurate to say that I ship many kinds of ships: kinship, friendship, apprenticeship, and relationships with romantic inclinations. But the ship o’ the day (as in today) is the shipping notification I just received from my printer. Boxes have left their facility. Governed by Whimsy: The Anthology should arrive on my doorstep in 2-3 days.

Those with mathy inclinations will realize that this means I’ll be stamping, signing, and stuffing books into my signature blue bubble mailers this Friday (5/22, a.k.a. Release Day). But we’ll get your signed book orders out the door as quickly as possible. You should receive your copies next week! ::confetti toss::

Pictures Soon!

ART: The Den

Quarterly Art Card. This is a friendly reminder about my Patreon account and its incentives. One perk of patronage is the quarterly art card. These are offered in limited quantities and for a limited time. To receive “The Den,” which you can get a peek at on this post, become a patron before the end of May (pledges are collected at the first of the month). For some tiers, art cards are automatically sent. At others, you must request them. Here’s a close crop of the art, which was created by Lara Pickle.

The full piece is quite cinematic and looks lovely on a 4 x 8″ card, which will mail out during the first week of June.

Pre-Order a Signed Copy

Governed by Whimsy: The Anthology is at the printer. (The manuscript is also in the hands of to good folks at Tantor Audio/Recorded Books, so Travis Baldree’s narration is also forthcoming … though further off.) It may be a week or two before I receive book boxes, so it will be nip and tuck to make the May 22 release date.

This hefty 400+ page book is a compilation of the first four short stories in the Songs of the Amaranthine collection:

  • Marked by Stars
  • Followed by Thunder
  • Dragged through Hedgerows
  • Governed by Whimsy

I’ll share pictures once I get my hands on copies. In the meantime, I’m opening up for pre-orders. If you’d like a signed copy or a numbered bookplate (or both), details can be found under the tab Signed Books >>

  • Cost for a signed copy of this title (mailed within the US) will be $25.
  • I’ve added Zelle to your payment options.

Governed by Whimsy_The Anthology

I’ll let the orders pile up until the book boxes arrive, then settle in for a mass signing session. At that time, you’ll hear back from me, confirming your payment, address, and pertinent details about signing. And of course, if you are interested in signed copies of any of my other titles, everything’s in stock at the moment. Many thanks for your interest and support! ::twinkle::

Note: Readers who plan to buy the book from bookstores, this title should begin showing up for pre-order in virtual storefronts by the end of the week. Bookplates will be available so you can add a personalized touch. Details on the Signed Books page >>

Release Day!

Governed by Whimsy is OUT. This is the solo digital edition. The print anthology will be coming along later, probably in May. An audio edition of the 4-story collection is already contracted, so you can also look forward to Travis Baldree’s narration.

Songs of the Amaranthine 04, Governed by Whimsy

To Ambrose P. Merriman, a stage actor who’s gained acclaim on three continents, reaver escorts are more trouble than they’re worth. Easy-come, easy-go, he hardly bothers to learn their names anymore. But the director and producer of their theater troupe, who are already dancing on the fringes of acceptability, won’t risk losing their independence by neglecting this duty to the In-between.

Reaver Greta Demerara comes with suspiciously excellent references, but by the time the Evernhold brothers realize she’s carrying considerably more baggage than anyone bothered to mention, the train’s already left the station. What’s more, it’s quickly apparent that Greta’s no easier to deal with than their star. It’s either a game of cat and canary or a courtship. And Ambrose would give almost anything for a look at the script.

NOW AVAILABLE!

P.S. I’m not seeing it in storefronts other than Amazon just yet, but it should be showing up soon. (Not much I can do to hurry things along. Thank you for your patience.)

ART: Brothers Evernhold

Coming Attraction. Release day is tomorrow, but most of us with pre-orders will be receiving a digital delivery tonight. So here’s fresh enticement in the form of art (and another tiny teaser). Governed by Whimsy will introduce you to members of the Leclerc Company, a traveling theater troupe with a vast repertoire, founded by the brothers Evernhold.

“Do I have the pleasure of addressing Mademoiselles Dimityblest and Demerara?”

They whirled guiltily.

Tailored gray suit. Chartreuse vest. Velvet shoes. Peridot cuff links. Fanning feathers in the band of the hat in his hands. The gentleman’s tone was cautious, and Greta could guess why. He looked her up and down through glasses with lavender-tinted lenses, shaggy eyebrows on the rise.

Greta rearranged her many parcels, using them as a shield.

“Who might you be?” Lulu’s posture slowly shifted. “Canarian?”

“None other.”

He lowered his glasses, revealing eyes of the same deep orange as his mother’s. Mahogany hair swept away from his brow in waxed waves. “I’m widely known as Monsieur Canarian Leclerc, founding member of the acclaimed Leclerc Company. How may I be of service, ladies?”
