LMM 570: Looking After

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the well-tailored one.

Looking After

Jacques rarely saw Argent in flight, at least… not in speaking form. So while he was very generously offering to foist Jarrah on this distant kinsman, he was—peripherally—enjoying his lordship’s graceful arrival.

Kip caught on quicker than most. He skittered, and Argent streaked after him, abandoning Jacques to the alley.

Hands in pockets, he gazed after them with a regretful sigh. His part in the proceedings was over.

“Pardon me?”

Jacques half-turned.

An oddly familiar man with exquisite taste and tailoring beckoned. “Lord Mettlebright dropped by earlier. He suggested I look after you while he’s occupied with Kip.”
