Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who isn’t comfy.

Natter
Jacques allowed Kip to steer him out the door and into an alley.
“You’re not a reaver.” His confusion seemed to be getting in the way of courtesies, but no matter.
“You’re not wrong.” Hooking one of Kip’s beltloops, he murmured, “Where do you keep your tail?”
The ploy worked. Kip cracked a smile. “You’re very comfortable with closeness.”
“Naturellement. Stately House is overrun with crossers, and I’m the little beasts’ favorite uncle.”
Jacques could practically see Kip’s twitching whiskers, so he nattered on, giving the squirrel clansman reasons to trust. And to relax his guard.
Because Argent was descending.

Oh Jacques! That was very stealthy of you! Get his guard down. I can imagine that Argent would be a bit overwhelming.

Argent was so very correct when he said Jacques has his uses. The man is definitely a high-value asset to have on ones team.
