Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the impulsive one.

Prelude
“We did?” Sonnet’s brow puckered. “You mean… in the car?”
“Before that.”
“Last night? All I did was hold you.”
Jacques hummed. “The day I touched your blaze, I think. Then we held hands. Since then.”
Sonnet’s tail shivered into a low sweep.
“Or maybe it was when you came to my rescue in the rain.” He smiled at the memory. “Bundled me off to your cousin’s tea shop and stole my pants.”
“You were soaked through!”
“And you were downhearted.”
Sonnet’s expression warmed. “And you invited me here.”
“One of my better impulses.” Jacques urgently repeated, “Only a little.”

I feel like the “only a little” comments are as much for Jacques himself as for Sonnet 😉
