Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one with an actual job.

All other qualms forgotten, Sonnet fretted and fussed and crooned over her fosterling.
Jacques cheerfully enduring her scolding while navigating the roads to Keishi in one of the estate’s poshest antiques. Lord, he loved a Rolls.
“Mark’s expecting us.”
“Who?”
“One of your strapping uncles. Valor will meet us at the gate, and Rampant knows we’re coming. Your mother felt it would be best not to tell your father. I think she likes to rile him up. And really… can you blame her?”
“Da…?”
“I’ll handle him. Handling things is… well! This sort of thing may be my actual job.”

So odd ball question….If Hazel and Florent children share a tree’s years, why would Sonnet leave the company of her first fosterlings….or is that something we will learn later on?

I thought it was mentioned somewhere but I can’t find it for the life of me. I hope we get to find out if Sentinel doesn’t know anything about Hazel.

Sentinel visited Merritt House back during the events of HEMMED IN SILVER (Songs 05), bringing news of the births of Sonnet’s baby sisters (twins Lyric & Lavish) … outing his son to Alfie in the process.

If Sonnet’s backstory becomes important to the main story, then we may find out more.
Timeline-wise, it’s probably been at least … mmm … 80 years since since the events of HEMMED IN SILVER. Something like that.

I am sure Florent is very good with kids – as well as amaranthine trees and their twins.
Hazel could have two or three kids who are already grown up and care for their own kids.
Perhaps Sonnet has the feeling not be needed anymore.
I hope Florent’s grandma has taught him how to tend his bondmate properly – he is a very clever mouse.

Jacques is a fine ambassador and negotiator. All will be well, but I’m sure there will be interesting conversations along the way.
