LMM 385: A Lot Can Happen

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the young one.

“Are you threatening me?”

“I’m promising.”

Jacques knew Nonny meant it, but he knew what going away could mean. “A lot can happen in three years.”

“You doubting me?”

“I’m speaking from experience.” Jacques steered the conversation. “Honest question. What does Gilen think of your stubborn attachment?”

“Thinks it’s understandable. He admires you a lot.”

Jacques gaped.

“Your face,” Nonny teased. “Don’t get all high and mighty. Deece is way more popular. Though most of ’em love Ginkgo best. The crazy ones crush on Argent.”

“Don’t any of you pine for Tsumiko?”

Nonny’s expression instantly gentled. “We all love Lady.”

  2. Hmm Jacques brings up a good point, though he misses the nuance I suppose for anyone Amaranthine. Regard and affection for Tsumiko is pretty much assured (as much because of who she is, as what she is), plus I think they understand that it wouldn’t be right to covet her attention exclusively, not when her nature brings so many the same gentle feelings of affection that they crave. Who would wish another to suffer because of their selfishness? (yanno, of the characters we know and who have proven themselves to be selfless if not always virtuous). Even Argent can’t truly argue that he wouldn’t want her to share her affection…as long as SHE is his.
