“But you’re my choice. Wish you’d believe me.” Nonny grumbled, “I can’t exactly stop.”
“Did you know I love Argent?”
“How thick do you think I am, Devotion?”
“I’m talking grand passion, here. I was fervently, sordidly smitten.”
Nonny snorted. “Can’t be.”
“What makes you so sure?”
“Scent and… that thing you do with otherwise innocent words.”
Jacques chuckled.
Nonny definitely blushed.
“Hey, Nonny, nonny?” he coaxed.
“Wut.”
“Argent disappointed all my hopes, but he somehow managed not to break my heart in the process.” Jacques gently said, “I won’t think less of you if your love also changes shape.”
