Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who knows how it feels.

Common Ground
“I’m rarely daft, but I feign it well.” Jacques stooped to look Nonny right in the eyes. “I’ll hear you out.”
Nonny stamped a hoof. “I like it here!”
“So do I.”
“I want to stay!”
“That’s all I wanted, too, yet Argent tried to toss me out like a useless, rubbishy vessel.”
Nonny’s brow furrowed. “I don’t believe you.”
“I was unwanted.” Jacques remembered being this desperate. Had probably looked at Argent with the very same … oh, lord. Well, damn.
“Why’d he change his mind?”
Jacques summoned up a rueful smile. “Because I belong here. Same as you.”

Plain speaking seems to be the best way to go with Nonny and Jacques. No misunderstandings with honesty.

They both need to know that they’re wanted. Makes me sad that’s it taken Jacques this long to realise how much Nonny needs him!

Ah..truth. While it can be uncomfortable, it certainly is the best path. Very nice chapter.
