Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who might know.

You Tried
“I might know,” Nonny mumbled in the vicinity of Jacques’ breastbone.
“Know what, nonny, nonny, hey?”
“Why you.”
“Tell us, then. Assuming Deece is allowed to know the terrible truth.”
Nonny sniffled.
From his seat on the floor, Deece reached his arm around both of them and patted Nonny’s shoulder.
“You lifted me up. You carried me.” Another sniffle. “You tried to save me from a fox.”
Jacques hummed. What else could he say? He wasn’t any kind of savior.
But the mention of foxes brought other things to mind. Like his lord’s vanishing act. Jacques asked, “Think Argent knows?”

Even if somehow Argent is oblivious to the fact, someone in Stately knows (Tsumiko, Sansa, Michael, Gingko…) and would have made a subtle or not-so-subtle comment to Argent possibly.

Lovely. I wonders why Nonny was so afraid of foxes before he came to Stately house. Like where this is going.

Aw…poor guy. I’m not even going to try and guess but I wonder if it has something to do with scary vixens.
