Chapter 255: Ready
Upon his return, Inuyasha didn’t bat an eye at finding Kagome on Sesshoumaru’s lap. “So there’s nothing much. Found an old den. Kinda small, but Kohaku’s clearing it, getting a fire going.”
“How far?” asked Sesshoumaru.
“We’ll make it before sundown. Ready?”
Kagome tried to pull away and failed. Sesshoumaru held her… and whistled.
Shishi trundled back into the meadow. He couldn’t have been far.
“You ride,” ordered Sesshoumaru.
He wasn’t talking to her. Inuyasha’s ears flattened.
“Your strength is already fading. Ride.”
To Kagome’s surprise, Inuyasha faced the lion-dog and mumbled, “You okay with that?”
No outburst. No argument.
