The chosen den was far from spacious. The inu-brothers had to angle their shoulders to crawl through the entrance.
Kohaku banked the fire over which they’d prepared dinner and promised, “I’ll keep watch from here. With Shishi.”
Kagome dropped to her knees and scooted cautiously into the dark recess, gasping when her fingers met fur. Then squeaking when the plushness slithered around her torso and legs, lifting and pulling her deeper inside.
“Watch her head,” grumbled Inuyasha, whose hand spread protectively over her hair.
“I am,” murmured Sesshoumaru. More guiding hands.
“You’re okay, Kagome.” Inuyasha sounded smug. “We’ve got you.”
