Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s all right.

Room for One More
“Deece and I were helping Gilen adjust to his new home.”
Nonny rolled his eyes. “He’s fine now.”
“Care to join?”
“Duh.”
“I’ll let Deece know to expect you. Michael is sometimes there, too.”
“He’s all right.”
Jacques explained, “We stay over at Deece’s if he’s due for tending.”
Nonny hummed in a suspiciously disinterested way.
“You… know about tending?”
The boy snorted. “There’s another condition.”
Subject changed.
Jacques said, “Tell me.”
“I get to keep calling you Jacques. No dumb titles or stuff.”
“Continue apace,” he invited graciously. Though he’d not noticed before. Nonny never called him Uncle Jackie.

If he ever does, it will be special. I think this is the start of a beautiful relationship.
