Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s been around for a long time.

Way Back When
With a promise to meet on the morrow, Jacques—now in possession of his pants—left with Valor, but they didn’t get far.
“Listen up, Ever. This is important. Mum loves these.”
He pointed into a shop next door called The House of the Noble Chrysanthemum.
“Mum?” Ever sniffed at the air.
“Lady Starmark likes traditional Japanese sweets?” Jacques admitted, “I’m surprised.”
“They are a sentimental favorite,” explained Valor. “This shop’s been around for a long time, and Mum used to frequent it.”
Jacques filed away that tidbit, then asked, “What say you, Ever? Will you treat your lady mother?”
