Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s starting high school tomorrow.

Coordinated Effort
While Valor and Ever secured an entire tray of pillowy white mochi, Jacques texted Isla.
What time should I pick you up?
Can you manage 7am?
Lord, no
I’ll pick *you* up
Safest
You know me so well
I’m in Starmark territory
Perfect
So is New Saga
Do I need to do anything?
You may stand about, looking important
What color is your uniform?
Green. Why?
Coordination.
What variety of green?
Diplomatic
That is *not* a shade of green
It IS
reaver palette
He consulted a search engine and sighed.
I shall endeavor not to clash
Love you, Uncle Jackie

I hope it’s not bottle green – that was my old school uniform colour (and I still can’t wear it to this day) and about the only thing that went with it was brown 😒 Poor Jacques, no possibilities for style there. Love that coordination is his first thought!

excerpted from Kimiko and the Accidental Proposal:
Quen tested the air, then leaned forward. This reaver—their reaver—was pink-cheeked from her run, bright-eyed with eagerness, and closely-kept by no less than three levels of warding. She was a slender, leggy pre-adolescent with an abundance of dark blonde curls, and her eyes picked up the willow-green of her tunic.
…
So … willow! ::twinkle::

They’re in Kimiko’s neck of the woods
“People lived over shops or behind businesses. Poky alleys hid the entrances to restaurants, the barber, a hardware store, and the candy shop Kimiko had frequented since she could walk. She hoped this part of the city—her part—would never change. Everyone bought their produce from the Nakamura’s and their fish from Satoh and Sons. The Smiling Cat was famous for its western-style lunch menu, and The House of the Noble Chrysanthemum sold traditional sweets”
