“This way?” Jacques had Ever Starmark by the hand. Or vice versa, since the boy was in the lead.

“Yeth.”

Harmonious Starmark was currently showing off his new school to Argent, leaving Jacques at a monumental disadvantage. Three-year-old crossers were quick, curious, and elusive.

“Such a simple rule. Stay with Uncle Jackie.”

Ever leapt into his arms, a feat that might’ve impressed Jacques more if he hadn’t been dealing with crossers for a few years now.

“Dun be mad, Unca Zak. I wiff you!”

Lord, he was cute. “Help me find Kyrie before his dad finds me, and we’re golden.”
