Mama’s Boy
A whoop from above alerted Jacques to Gingko’s return. He appeared to be racing Minx. Or rather, the boy clinging to the panther’s back.
Jacques gasped at Minx’s clifftop leap.
The boy shouted with laughter.
Tumbling off Minx, he jogged across the sand, waving a length of teal cloth, exuding grit and gumption. He squared off before Akira, talking fast.
Pivoting, he offered Jacques his hand. “I’m Timur!”
Nearly as tall as Jacques, the lone boy in Michael’s brood was all windblown curls, thick lashes, and summer tan, carrying himself a confidence Jacques recognized.
This boy was already a warrior.
