LMM 128: Necessities of Life

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the fashion critic.

Necessities of Life

“Lady! Lady! Lady!” called Nonny, waving his whole arm. “I found Uncle Jackie!”

Tsumiko hurried over, resplendent in a red-flowered kimono. Much more suitable than the nonsense she’d worn while in Uppington.

“You look happy, Lady Mettlebright.”

She was usually so much more reserved, but something had her aglow in a way that made Jacques wistful. Ah, to be more than tolerated. Ah, to be unreservedly loved.

Her English was little better than his Japanese, but he rattled on. “Nonny tells me your brother is here.”

“My brother,” she confirmed. “Akira.”

“You should introduce me! Everyone needs a favorite uncle.”

  2. That boy is needy! Reminds me of my male SharPei, Rider. 85 pounds of I need more love! Jacques is loved, I just don’t think he’s realized it yet. So nice to see Tsumiko.
