Chapter 161: Tall

Kagome stroked silky fur painted by pretty moods—lavenders and pinks, turquoises and blues. Much better than the peevish and pained hues from earlier.

Inuyasha returned with her backpack. “Miroku’s helping the other men dig a grave.”

Shishi lifted his head, gaze mournful.

“Me and Kohaku will hunt.” Inuyasha hesitated. “Unless you need help with your lion-dog?”

“We’re fine,” Kagome assured. “Shishi’s smart, and Sesshoumaru-sama’s here.”

She set out soap, shampoo, ointment, towel. Locating her swimsuit, she ducked behind a bush to change. Halfway through, she glanced up.

Blue moon crest. Glowing red eyes. The big dog could see everything.
