LMM 114: Loaner

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s probably just deflecting.

Jacques couldn’t believe it. “You don’t mind?”

“The sequins? Of course I mind,” grumbled Argent. “They are ridiculous.”

“Sequins have their place. Trust me. It’s a gala. You must be grand.” Jacques adjusted Argent’s lapel. “And I was talking about Lapis’ invitation.”

“Why would I mind?”

“I’m your man. Not his.” Jacques would have liked to be guarded more jealously.

“Lapis is in similar circumstances to Gilen.”

Jacques couldn’t imagine what a half-tiger and a dragon lord might have in common.

Argent elucidated. “Neither is comfortable with reavers.”

“Why not?”

“Perhaps for the same reason I am uncomfortable with sequins.”
