LMM 80: Japanese to English to French

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the legend in the making.

Chapter Eighty: Japanese to English to French

Staying was more involved than Jacques expected. And more immediate. Wedged between Gingko and Gilen, he helped relay Argent’s bedtime story to a homesick little boy.

Gingko’s translation had all the ambiance of a fable, but the tale being spun was more new than old.

A fox and his lady.

A den and its protection.

A home and its blessings.

Argent was handing down family history to its newest members. And he’d waited for Jacques before beginning. His breath caught.

Gingko’s ears pricked his way.

“Am I dreaming?” Jacques whispered.

Slinging an arm around his shoulders, Gingko said, “Maybe later.”
