Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially for the beloved son.

Tread Lightly
“Was she… like Kyoko?” whispered Jacques.
Argent’s brows knit.
“Gilen’s mother rejected him?” He glanced Kyrie’s way. “Like Kyoko.”
“Their situations are quite different.” Argent drew him aside, drew a sigil on his palm. “Gilen’s father is human, a cosset in the cortege of Gilen’s mother. Feline traditions make their situation… delicate.”
“He’s not an orphan?”
Argent hesitated. “That term does not technically apply to any of these children.”
Jacques caught on. “Their Amaranthine parent doesn’t want them.”
“Or does not know about them. Or cannot publicly own them.” Argent nodded. “Reaver Dulcet is trusting his son’s future to us.”

I’m sure the two terms are related.

Aha! That’s right. Ash mentions the classification in passing. I was thinking it was in this spot:
With a flat look, Argent began listing classifications. “Ward. Pinion. Kilter. Battler. Candor. Reach.”

You know, I live in peril of unintentionally blurting some spoiler because I’ve forgotten that some detail is explained in an UPCOMING story.
Eheh.

Ah that’s sad. Feline females are very aloof. It seems the males are friendly and more giving.
