Jacques took a seat in one of the bakery’s booths, snapped a picture of his selection, and texted it to Nonny.

No lovely lie-in for me
But here’s a bright side

It didn’t take long for Nonny to respond.

Cor. You eat MUFFINS?

Came highly recommended

Good if I show Sonnet?
She’s hovering

Moments passed, and Jacques’ suspense grew.

You actually *like* them?
You’re all about fancy pastries
Muffins are for commoners

I’m smitten
Perhaps it’s the hint of cardamom
Elevates the experience

A longer pause. Then Nonny texted,

NOW look what you’ve done

And sent through a picture.
