Squirrel Identification

They repaired to the living room, and Jacques loosened his tie and loitered.

“I’m going squirrel hunting tomorrow. Or the next day. Soon.”

Harrison raised his bottle. “Tallyho!”

“About them. What do you think? Are squirrels cozies?” It was a silly question. Was he drunk?

“Probably. They’re in every backyard.”

“Friend of mine argued that they’re one of the trickster clans. Wait a tick. I’m not sure that nickname’s intended for a general audience.”

“No, you’re okay. I’ve heard it used. Coyotes are tricksters.”

Bon. So? Cozy or trickster?”

“How do they identify?”

“Mmm. When I catch mine, I’ll ask.”
