Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the over-protective one.

Jacques brightened. “You’re a wolf.”
“And that makes you happy.” Rook’s expression warmed. “A refreshing change of pace.”
“Did someone decide I needed a bodyguard?”
Rook lifted his chin toward Harrison. “I think your boss wants me to decide if he’s worthy of you. Not that Argent said as much.”
Jacques tried to hide his smile behind his corndog.
Rook chuckled. “Which also makes you happy.”
