Harrison’s gasp was pure delight. He gave Jacques a meltingly grateful smile before offering his hands to Argent. “Good evening, Lord Mettlebright. This is truly a pleasure.”
“You will not remember meeting me.”
“Oh!” Harrison’s smile didn’t waver. “If you think that’s best, sir.”
“It is. For now. If my man has his way, you will see me again. In the meantime….”
Jacques held his peace while Argent hassled Mr. Peck with increasingly personal questions.
Harrison answered candidly.
Finally, Argent inclined his head.
“Satisfied?” inquired Jacques.
“Carry on, but do not forget. You need to locate that Woodacre for me.”
