Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the concerned party.

Spare Me
Jacques held out a frosty blue suitcoat, the one with the Mettlebright crest stitched in silver. Argent would be mingling with local dignitaries—or the American equivalent—at an impromptu gala at Bellwether College.

“Sinder didn’t tattle? I’m shocked.” Jacques turned Argent to smooth lapels and tie. “I met our neighbor. We have plans… if you can spare me.”
Argent’s brows drew together.
His concern made Jacques smile. “Not those kinds of plans. Though I will need protection.”
Silver tails exploded around them.
Jacques bowed his head. Truly, he was a fortunate man.
