Beyond Help
Jacques bravely admitted, “I haven’t the wherewithal to seduce you.”
Harrison didn’t look shocked, only concerned. “No need to go out of your way.”
Accepting his handkerchief, Jacques blotted unforeseen tears. “What must you think of me,” he glumly repeated.
“Mostly, I’m intrigued. What can I do?”
“I am beyond help.”
Like a gentleman, he didn’t pry. “Then may I distract you…?”
“Are you even gay?”
“Oh! Bi, actually. Although recent fascinations have me suspicious that I’m pan. But that isn’t what I meant.” From the inside pocket, Harrison produced a folded paper. “I’ll let you hold the grocery list.”
