Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s had a whirlwind couple of days.

At Ease
Alone again, Jacques faced Harrison. “What must you think of me?”
He candidly replied, “I’ve always thought you have a flirty sort of smile.”
Jacques relaxed. “What a lovely thing to say.”
Harrison simply smiled back, absolutely, positively at ease. Which only firmed Jacques’ opinion. Stately House needed people like this. Perhaps he did, too.
With a man like Harrison, he’d be on equal footing. He could almost picture it. A chest of drawers for bowties might just fit alongside the armoire where he kept his dressing gown collection.
Shared passions. Shared lifespan.
“Jacques?” Harrison offered his handkerchief. “What’s wrong?”
