Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who works with children.

Make Yourself at Home
“I won’t be intruding?”
“No, not at all. It’s just me.” Harrison gave a little tug, pulling Jacques across the threshold. “I’ll just set up my machine. Make yourself at home.”
Harrison’s condo had the same uninspired floorplan as next door, but personal touches abounded. Crayon drawings of a bowtied Mr. Peck littered the walls. “You work with children, perhaps?”
Steam hissed. “Yes! At the elementary school.”
Jacques paused before an imposing wall chart, scanning sticky note dates and translations. “Are you actually learning the Seven Score Moons?”
Harrison brought the promised espresso. “I’m muddling along. In my spare time.”
