LMM 535: Being Neighborly

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the guy in the condo next door.

Being Neighborly

Neatly groomed. Nattily dressed. Jacques’ desultory once-over snapped into focus at the demitasse cup and saucer in the man’s hands. “Lord, is that an espresso?”

“Yes! Oh, my. Would you like one?”

Jacques decided to be neighborly.

The man was flustered, yet clearly delighted. “It’s an honor!”

Jacques clasped his hand and held on. “People don’t usually recognize me.”

“Ah. I’m afraid I’m a bit fanatical about all things Amaranthine.”

Jacques noted the tiny pumpkins on the man’s bowtie and decided to be charmed. Bowing over his hand, Jacques murmured, “I would love coffee. Your name?”

“It’s Harrison. Harrison Peck.”

  2. Not who I was expecting, but perfect for Jacques. A kindred spirit, of sorts–love of fancy coffee, love of fancy clothes, love of children–perfect! 😊
