Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one with fosterlings.

Brazening His Way
Jacques muttered, “I can’t be here for him always.”
“Did he ask for always?”
“Only for tonight.”
Ginkgo’s ears pricked. “That bothers you, doesn’t it?”
Jacques couldn’t even scrape up a smile.
“Oh, man. Okay. Look, Sonnet isn’t a lone wolf. He’s definitely been a lonely wolf, but he put some spin on that, probably to make it easier. He found friends and raised some kids. Believe me, that also makes it easier.
“Here, now, Sonnet’s making a bold move. Brazen, even. He wants to run with you, to be part of your pack. That’s us. So… bring him in.”

Sometimes I am just a little bit sad for Jacques. I hope there is a special someone for him in his near future. Someone who is looking out for him … who loves him.
And that’s my wish for Ginkgo too
