Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s been running with wolves for years.

Finishing Touches
The sun set while Randolla fussed over finishing touches. Then the beaming fowl escorted Jacques through a private door. Ginkgo waited outside, offering a lamp that glowed blue.
“I set up more, but not many. You’ll still be the brightest thing in our woods.”
“Merci.”
They walked… but Ginkgo stopped. “Hey, Jacques?”
“Mmm?”
“Did Dad tell you to be careful?”
“More or less.”
“If Sonnet wanted careful, he wouldn’t have turned to you.” Ginkgo eyed him approvingly. “You hired a tailor. You secured a den. You put glitter in your hair. Don’t skimp on the rest. Be your sexy self.”
