LMM 509: Have a Care

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who knows what he’s about.

Have a Care

Shortly after dinner, Argent cornered him. “Have a care.”

“I did prepare.” Jacques clarified, “For eventualities. I borrowed a bolt hole. Ginkgo won’t be far, and he’ll be discreet.”

“Sensible.”

“I’m occasionally capable.”

Argent’s tone shifted. “Will you be all right?”

His feelings curled in on themselves, armadillo-snug. “I know how to satisfy a playmate. Do you really want to know my plans?”

“Not in any great detail. But… wolves.”

“They have beautiful ideals.” Jacques sighed. “Sentinel gave advice. As did Ginkgo. I do understand my role.”

Argent softly repeated, “But will you be all right?”

“Piffle. I’ll be brilliant.”

  2. All I want is for Jacques to be selfish and tell Sonnet how he feels about this. It hurts to see him hide his desire from Sonnet just to make this experience positive for him.

  3. Beautiful lies. Sigh. Jacques we know you’ll be fine – you’re much too giving, but you won’t be okay. Be a little selfish, be a little demand-y, you’re in company with folk who will let you be so without issues.
