LMM 500: Cats and Cads

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the devoted one.

Jacques roused enough to know he was in his own bed, with a purring Catalan for a pillow. “Mmm… what did I miss?”

“Daring advice, impetuous kisses, and a bouquet. Your wolf favors lavender.”

“Were you good to him?”

“Sonnet trusts easily, learns eagerly. Is this envy? I could be twice as good to you.”

“I can’t be jealous. He needs your sort of friendship.”

Catalan kissed him softly. “Canines don’t understand dalliance.”

“You’ve seen how he is. How he’d be. I refuse to be the cad who breaks his heart.”

“Because you’re inconstant as a cat?”

“Because I’m human.”
