Jacques took extra care with albeit hasty ablutions. Tattle-tale scents banished, he made an appearance.
Catalan immediately stepped into his arms. “Mmm. This simmer… is it for me?”
“I’m always glad to see you,” Jacques fondly assured.
With a knowing smile, Cat arched up to nuzzle behind Jacques’ ear.
Still at the table beside his uncle, Canarian pointed toward the door.
Hisoka raised a hand, then began lowering fingers. 5… 4… 3…
The clop of hooves came close enough for human ears to hear.
“Lord. You utter tease,” Jacques whispered.
Cat kissed his cheek the same moment Nonny walked in.
