Jacques heart clenched to see injury on Nonny’s face.

Cat immediately relented, capturing the disgruntled boy. There was a lot of rubbing and whispering and purring.

Nonny’s irritation quickly changed to exasperation. “Gerroff, already. Oi, watch where you’re putting your hands! Jacques, take him back!”

Jacques wrapped his arms around both of them. “Hush. He’s only teasing you.”

“Thinks he’s funny. What a riot.”

“Miss me?”

“You? Guess so. Him? Not so much. I can’t stand cats!”

“Nooo. Do not say it,” begged Catalan, who enfolded Nonny. “Let me dote.”

Rolling his eyes, Nonny addressed Jacques. “Himself’s asking for you.”
