LMM 416: Rewarding Good Behavior

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who worked up an appetite.

If Jacques’ mind hadn’t already been made up about the American, Josheb would have swayed him with his next easy smile. “I wondered where you were!”

“The kitchen. I’m a cook, you see.”

“Did you make these?” Josheb lifted the cotton towel from an empty basket.

Sonnet’s eyes took on a shine. “You like my rolls?”

Josheb coaxed, “Any left?”

“I’ll see what I can find!” She fairly skipped to the kitchen.

Jacques circled the table to grip Josheb’s shoulder. “I could kiss you.”
