Jacques eased open the door, and Kyrie peeped through.

Josheb failed to hide his surprise. Or his delight. That was good. Honesty was the surest road to trust.

Pushing back his chair, Josheb showed his palms. “Hey, little mister. Don’t be shy. You watch me and my brother on television?”

“Yes.” Kyrie grabbed Jacques’ hand and pulled him along, as if not wanting to leave his uncle out.

After introductions, Argent prompted, “You had an invitation to issue?”

“A dare,” Kyrie corrected.

“Oh, yeah? We Dare brothers take those pretty seriously. What’ll it be?”

“Please, come swimming with our club?”
