LMM 380: I Must Protest

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s impressed.

I Must Protest

To Jacques’ increasing mystification, Cat coaxed Nonny into his arms, and their exchange continued well beyond a simple apology.

“He’s good,” Canarian murmured admiringly.

“Care to fill me in?”

“Wait and see. Nonny will let you know his decision.”

“Is your partner propositioning my apprentice?” Jacques drawled, only half kidding.

Canarian’s brows arched. “And if he is?”

“Depending on the nature of the offer, I might wish to file a protest.”

“Cat’s acting as your friend.”

Jacques trusted these two, but he still muttered, “True friends stab you in the front.”

Canarian nuzzled his ear and cheerfully reminded, “That’s cats.”
