Face Your Dragons

Sinder ushered them into a room, and Harmonious shouldered his way over. “Argent. Please!”

“I think not.” Brandishing his flourish, Argent raised his voice. “I am entrusting you lot to Mister Smythe. He will hear you out. Do try to confine yourselves to pertinent details. Tea will be served shortly.”


“H-his human?”

With a genteel wave, he said, “I’m Jacques.”

The door snapped shut, leaving him alone with eight dragons. It probably should have been alarming, but an instant later, Jacques faced eight kneeling suppliants, sheer layers and silky hair pooling upon the floor, faces hidden behind beringed hands.
