Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the famous one.

Beg an Introduction
Jacques was on intimate terms with two and a half dragons, but Lapis was a pariah and Sinder an outlier. However, Kyrie’s bedtime stories held Jacques in good stead. This cabal was straight out of dragon lore. Right down to the players.
Dropping to one knee before the fellow all done up in browns, Jacques inquired, “Do I have the pleasure of addressing Lord Beckonthrall?”
Fingers parted enough to reveal cornflower eyes.
“And you’ve honored us with a full spectrum? These are your sons, yes?”
Hands fell away. “Bring Mettlebright back.”
Jacques tapped Lord Beckonthrall’s nose and cheerfully answered, “No.”

I think I just won the dragon prize. (All the Beckonthralls for my fic which involves their sister, heck yes.) Unfortunately, Beckonthrall did not since Jacques can’t be thralled. 🤣

I don’t understand why they’re afraid of Jacques.

I wouldn’t interpret their posture as fear.

1) The story tells itself. No need for me to natter about on the sidelines.
2) If memory serves, this isn’t the first time you’ve seen a dragon in a similar posture.

Lapis begging to hold baby Kyrie comes to mind. But I don’t remember him covering his eyes, so I’m probably wrong. Time for a series reread!
